I have been training dogs for over 18 years , i started doing obedience with my Rottweiler Poppy in which we reached level B at Kennel club open obedience.
Shortly after this i found agility which was much more fun than obedience, and proceeded to teach my dog agility ,as she thought obedience was fun , this totally blew her mind.
Now i had this crazy dog who proceeded to bark her way wildly round the agility ring.
I still laugh when i remember the look on the judges face as we proceeded to destroy most of the course, but she enjoyed it we only ever got two clear rounds in all of the times that she went into the ring.
Unfortunatly due to an injury Poppy had to be retired from agility, but still enjoyed playing at obedience every now and then.
Many dogs later i now have Pi an Australian Kelpie who is aGrade 7 agility dog, Pi is coming up to retirement.
Ten a Border Collie also grade 7,
and Tiff my young dog a Border Collie who has finished her first agility season as a grade 6 , plus qualifying for olympia 2009, and crufts 2010.
I still use lots of the training methods i learnt whilst doing obedience as well as lots of new and addapted ideas.
I am always learning and bringing new training ideas into our agility training.
Agility is just obedience on the move!!
My aim is to keep having fun with our dogs,
and to teach others so that they can do the same.
